The criticism of Dr. Hovind includes defaming Patriot
Bible University.
Dr. Kent Hovind, a Patriot [Bible] University graduate, is under
increasing criticism for his stand on Biblical creation. The evolutionists
who disagree with him have given up debating the issues and instead
have resorted to character assassination. Obviously, they are unable
to refute his logic or deflect his message. To discredit him, his
critics have used every means possible, especially on the Internet,
to personally attack him and his education. The criticism of Dr. Hovind
by these people includes defaming Patriot
Bible University.
A humorous Internet spoof is called, “Patriot
Bible University.:
A virtual tour of Hovind’s alma mater.” It shows a picture
of the home of Patriot Bible University’s Executive Director (see
below), superimposed with obviously fictitious labels pointing to
sections of the house: Administration, Lecture Hall #1, Cafeteria,
Physical plant, and Campus Lab. What they did not show was the building
next door where Patriot Bible University offices are housed (see bottom
picture)! The two locations share a common mailbox (ask the post
office!)
It’s obvious that the people behind this have abandoned scientific
objectivity and the search for truth. Scientists worth their salt
will debate issues, not personalities and schooling. If their theories
will withstand the scrutiny of logic and evidence, they will not need
to defame their opponents. True scientists must even be willing to
admit they are wrong before they compromise their integrity by name-calling
and childish attacks.
Any one of us may face persecution. Our attitude should be one of
joy and anticipation of what God will accomplish through our trials.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says, “Blessed are ye, when
men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner
of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding
glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the
prophets which were before you” (Matthew 5:11,12). Our Lord
goes on to tell us what to do with persecution: “But I say unto
you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them
that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute
you” (Matthew 5:44).
While Patriot Bible University. would rather not have to endure the slander that comes from Dr. Hovind’s
critics, we also see God’s marvelous hand in this. Both Dr.
Hovind and Patriot Bible University have gained international recognition
and applause in the Christian community because his critics have resorted
to these tactics. Many people have said Patriot Bible University must
be having a significant impact in God’s kingdom if they are
drawing such opposition over one graduate!
Isn’t it awesome how God will use a Pharaoh, a Jezebel, or
a Judas to further His kingdom here on earth?
